The plain truth is that Jesus Christ never spoke in tongues even once, nor did He ever command it, nor approve of it. Dr. Pyle, in his excellent book exposing the heresy of tongues, goes on to state:

“Tongues were not for everybody even back in the book of Acts. 'Do all speak with tongues?' Paul asked, and the answer is self-evident. Certainly not! ...
Jesus did not speak in tongues. Other Spirit-filled Christians did not—such saints as John the Baptist, Elisabeth, Zacharias, Stephen and Barnabas—though the Bible clearly reveals that they were filled with the Spirit.”

We have all heard the term "speaking in tongues"; but, no one actually spoke in tongues in the Bible. Rather, they spoke in their own language, and the listeners heard the message in their own native language. We read in Acts 2:8-11, "And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God."

The gift of tongues was only meant to be temporary, for it is only listed in the two early lists found in I Cor. 12:8-11 & 28-30. In the two other lists which were published several years later, tongues are not mentioned at all. See Eph. 4:8-12 and Rom. 12:4-8. Neither are tongues listed as being the "fruit of the Spirit", Gal. 5:22,23.

To seek after an experience that is contrary to the teaching of God's Word, is one of the most dangerous things a person can do. Why? Because they are wide open for demonic invasion and delusion. "...In the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils." I Timothy 4:1. Satan is an imitator. See II Cor. 11:13-15; I John 4:1; Isa. 8:20. Satan is ready to help people imitate the tongues of the Bible, since there are so many who are seeking this experience!
CHARISMATIC DECEPTION
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
GIVING HEED TO SEDUCING SPIRITS AND DOCTRINES OF DEVILS"
The Charismatic movement is of the Devil. They are easily identified by three distinct heresies: 1) the speaking-in-tongues mumbo-jumbo; 2) the teaching that salvation can be lost from sin; 3) fake healing meetings and crusades.
"Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away"
"...but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ."
"Tongues" simply means "Languages" in the Bible. It is extremely important for the Bible student to look up the word "tongues" in the Greek. As you will find, "glossa" simply means "languages." When the Bible speaks of "tongues," it ALWAYS is referring to a KNOWN, earthy, established language--never some mysterious, unknown, hocus-pocus, mumbo-jumbo. The demonic tongues which the Pentecostals practice is NOT found anywhere in the Word of God. Even the carnal Church of Corinth wasn't foolish enough to speak in some crazy language that even the speaker didn't understand. This is clearly evidenced by Paul's constant mention of the necessity of an interpreter. No one could interpret the garbage which Charismatics are babbling even if they tried.
